Lots of new stuff filtering in the door today folks, below be an outline of the eh..outlined genres, stuck on some links to listen where we could find them, unfortunately this distro doesnt come with clips so we did our best for you. More to come over the weekend in the lines of Jazz, Hip-Hop,Indie and more elecronica. Will stick em up here in Due course.

Plugd New Arrivals 5th November //
noise / post punk / new wave /kraut / electronic etc

Chris & Cosey - Heartbeat // CTI
LP // €19.00
After last months ‘The Spaces Between’ re-issue of some of Chris Carters seminal work outside of Throbbing Gristle, Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti re-release one of electronic musics defining albums , ‘Heartbeat’, on their CTI label. Since its initial release, through waves of post punk minimalism and electro, it would be difficult to point out any synth based work that hasn’t been somewhat influenced by what Carter and Tutti produced during this era. An album that should be in most listeners collection is made even more inviting by a blue vinyl pressing coupled with an A4 glossy insert. Do it! Listen Listen

Chris & Cosey - Trance // CTI
LP // €19.00
The second re-issue of Chris&Cosey, ‘Trance’ was initially released a year after ‘Heartbeat’, back in 1982. They had moved into darker territory since then and it was beginning to show. Given our present revivalism of the early electronic sounds of the 80’s with the terms minimal and cold wave being bandied about you could do no better than listen to what these terms really do apply to. Again highly highly recommended listening. Listen Listen

Cyclobe - Wounded Galaxies Tap atThe Window//Phantom Code
LP//€19.00
Long anticipated album from Cyclobe and the first material to surface since their "Paraparaparallelogr ammatica" collaboration with ‘Nurse with Wound’. The central duo of Ossian Brown and Stephen Thrower may be familiar to people through their work with ‘Coil’ throughout their studio and live incarnations from the 80’s through to the 90’s. Cyclobes own sound has been in constant flux since their inception over ten years ago but they might have just gone and produced their finest and most immersive work to date. Great release.

Maserati – Pyramid of the Moon//Temporary Residence
LP//€18.00
Never originally intended for release, ‘Pyramid of the Moon’ was born as a scribbled idea in drummer Gerhardt Fuch's journal while on tour, hatched in the studio as an extended jam captured while recording the forthcoming album, ‘Pyramid of the Sun’. The resulting 9 minutes psych-rock gets remixed on the flip by a recent visitor to these shores, ‘The Field’. These tracks will not be featuring on the aforementioned forthcoming album and therefore give themselves limited edition status all on their own. Fans of Neu!, Can and Battles take note.

Tim Hecker – Haunt Me // Alien 8
LP/CD // €27.00/17.50
Its almost 10 years since Tim Hecker released his Debut album back in 2001 and the Canadian sound artist has come along way since, establishing himself as one of the worlds foremost electronic artists. ‘Haunt Me’ doesn’t show any signs of its age though and is still a vital album, standing up to his impressive recent work such as ‘Imaginary Country’. For the first time, Alien 8 have pressed it to vinyl as a 750 copy limited edition. Very important work from a shop favourite. Listen Listen

Expo 70 - Where Does Your Mind Go? // Immune
2xLP // €24.00
Justin Wrights Expo 70 project has been bringing modern Kosmiche and Drone sounds to new heights since 2003. Totalling at 74 minutes of deep drone and synthesizer washs, occasionally interrupted by machine rythyms, its dare we say a bit of a modern masterpiece (of the synth scene kind). Not your regular recorded at home on tape antics, the likes of which this genre seems to head toward on many an occasion, this is a studio produced work of great detail, and immune have given the packaging an equal amount of care. They even put in the free download…but please do listen at home at high volume ok? Anyone with a passing (or indeed heavy) interest in the likes of Klaus Schulze or Oneohtrix Point Never best get this into their collection rather sharpish. Easy to get lost in….we really really like. sounds nothing like this

Ilyas Ahmed- Between Two Skies / Towards The Night
2xLP // €24.00
This deluxe double-vinyl edition reissues a pair of releases by Pakistan-born Portlander Ilyas Ahmed, who originally released the albums Between Two Skies and Towards The Night in runs of just 50 copies each. This edition comes pressed on heavyweight virgin vinyl, housed in a tip-on gatefold jacket featuring brand new collage art from Ahmed himself, made especially for this release. Beautifully haunting stuff leaning only on Ahmeds guitar and mournful voice, simple yet devastatingly effective work. Listen

Barn Owl - Ancestral Star // Thrill Jockey
LP/CD // €18.00/16.00
This San Francisco-based duo has established itself in the past few years as a talented drone machine, with releases on taste-making labels like Root Strata and Not Not Fun (there seems to be a pattern to this weeks releases of everyone moving on from Not Not Fun!). Dusty, fuzzy and quiet guitar passages, with slow permeating drums rearing themselves from time to time, it paints a picture not unlike its sleeve art. Very impressive album and (we like saying this) a shop tip. Thrill Jockey offering the free download, and a wonderfully packaged product make it a must. Listen Listen

Arp - Soft Wave // Smalltown Supersound
LP // €17.00
Former Tussle member and member of Alps (responsible for the fantastic III) Alexis Georgopoulos is clearly doing what feels good…it feels good to us aswell. Amidst the reams of Kosmische operators around today, 'The Soft Wave' stands high above the clouds with exceptionally high production values and an instinctive feel for the lushest strains of synthesizer music. Kosmiche fans need this one. Listen Listen

Bruce Haack – The Electric Voice LP // Stones Throw
2xLP // €24.00
The vocoder-based recordings (1970-1983) of electronic music pioneer Bruce Haack. 'Farad: The Electric Voice' includes out of print and un-released tracks and specifically focuses on tracks using Haack's self-made vocoder, which he named “Farad.” This was the one of the first truly musical vocoders, and first to be used on a pop album. This work pre-dates Kraftwerks first dalliance with vocoders and will hopefully give it the reverence it deserves. Pioneering stuff we need to be exposed to. Electro heads and experimentalists alike better take note of this one. Listen

We also have 3 new releases from dotdotdot records ...

Safe - Bare Life
CD // €12.00
Irish noise group Safe release their fourth full length album - Bare Life. Blasting noise, infernal drones, clatterings of many colours in a swamp of metallised volume.
It is in two sections, the five-part 'Sky Burial' and the 33 minute 'Red Night' .

Cyclobe - The Eclipser
7" (clear vinyl) // 10.00

Cyclobe (1999-present) are a music duo based in London, formed by Stephen Thrower and Ossian Brown. They make hallucinatory electronic soundscapes by mixing sampled and heavily synthesized sounds with acoustic arrangements for strings and woodwind. Their approach draws upon diverse forms, including acousmatic, drone music, dark ambient, noise and sound collage. Ossian Brown worked with Coil from 1999 until the band's cessation on the death of John Balance in 2004.

Fear Falls Burning - Dead of Night
7" // €8.00

Fear Falls Burning - founded in 2005 as an exercise in minimalism and as a conscious counterpoint to the refined complexity of vidnaObmana, fear falls burning has gradually turned into a musical meditation on purity and subdued power. as part of this transformation, the guitar has evolved from a mere instrument into a veritable shamanic tool for trance. in a sense, dirk serries, who has held a deep fascination for the subtle power of drone music ever since embarking on his personal odysee in 1984, is returning to his roots here: fear falls burning presents listeners with a primevally physical experience that is in turns contemplative, rhythmically agitated and thunderous.
"From huge walls of sound to soft humming shimmery buzz, My Bloody Valentine-ish blown-out bliss to raga-like buzz, Fear Falls Burning is a truly unique and surprisingly melodic take on doom and drone.
