Any redevelopment of that site, which was purchased by a developer last year, is a long way off, so the marquee can continue for another few years, eg the site will be available.

But the number of gigs has reduced, some 16 empty nights which has not happened previously, and sales have been poor, partly due to the Musgrave Park gigs, which sold at least 60,000 tickets, which is 12 nights of the marquee.

Maybe some of the Aikens acts just were not touring or committed elsewhere. But this year, the quality of acts was not great. It now seems to have a high percentage of “Heritage” acts, and 3 country acts this year. Theres a market for that stuff, of course, but they need. more variety, a more diverse choice of acts, which was not evident this year.

Location is largely irrelevant.... the headline acts are what determine success or failure imo

People will go almost anywhere to see an act they love
