Has she stated that she was put under pressure in 2005? Answer no, so your just making it up as per usual.

Cahill burying Adams and Mary Lou on Newstalk, giving them 'one last chance' to come clean before bringing forward witnesses. While Adams was able to shrug off the Liam Adams case, I'm not so sure he will survive this one. And Mary Lou is taking a risk by defending him so staunchly. Watch this space.

This is getting very serious now for Mary Lou and the other SF TD's and if she is not very very careful she could seriously damage her own ambitions.

Very unusual that there is no SF spokesperson available for comment today.

It's actually terrifying what people are willing to sweep under the carpet.

If this was the church, setting up their own investigation into the rape of a child, forcing her to be questioned by a roomful of older men before facing her abuser, and then someone like Sean Brady suggesting to her the abuse may have been consensual, people like MLMD and Pearse Doherty would be rightly up in arms.

These people want to be in government in Ireland. There is no room for ambiguity on this.

Mary Lou showed a lot of leadership around the time of the church sex abuse scandals but if she doesn't take a principled stand this time then we will know John Deasy was right about her all along.

Good luck to Mairia Cahill I hope she finds peace and some sort of justice.

Do you really think something like this would bother your average SF fanatic ?

They'll just reason this one as some Unionist/Blueshirt conspiracy to tarnish the good name of St Gerry of the Falls.

It didn't dent his political ambitions one bit when the revelations of his paedo brother came out and his part perverting the course of justice in that ugly affair , so what makes you think this will ?

Fantasy economics , political duality north and south of the border and denial of involvement in the covering up of sex crimes. Just another day for SF .

Independent group forced to apologise to Gerry Adams

17 October, 2014 -

Sinn Fein Leader Gerry Adams has welcomed two significant decisions by the Press Council to uphold complaints regarding articles about him in the Irish Independent and Sunday Independent. On 17th May, the Independent claimed Gerry Adams had attempted to “gag” the newspaper.

The Sinn Fein President said the article was based on an “unfounded accusation” against him and the Press Ombudsman agreed. An appeal by the Independent to the Press Council was rejected.

The Press Ombudsman also upheld complaints by Gerry Adams that statements in an article about him in the Sunday Independent on 18 May 2014, were in breach of the Code of Practice for Newspapers and Magazines. Again, an appeal by the Sunday Independent to the Press Council was rejected.

Welcoming the decisions Mr Adams said:

“As everyone knows, the Independent Group of newspapers has for many years had a profound bias against Sinn Fein as a political party and against me as an individual.

“This is reflected in the most offensive terms week-in, week out in these newspapers. This has been bad for journalism and bad for politics.

“I believe the decisions of the Press Ombudsman which have now been upheld by the Press Council are a significant step forward in curbing unfair, politically biased and discriminatory coverage in the Irish media.”
