Default Youth is Key: Fergie

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes that clubs should still try to produce their own youth rather than rely on foreigners for success.

United are famous for bringing through some of the best young talent in world football and a large majority have gone on to international honours for their country.

Speaking at one of the club's centres of excellence, Ferguson insisted that his club want to give youngsters the best possible chance of making the grade.

"You mention the word heritage and history and you can't lose that part of what you are," the Scot told Sky Sports News.

"You see the kids here today and that's what Manchester United is about, young people. We always try to produce the best young players we can.

"I think the most important thing is that players have come through that particular route themselves, they're local boys.

"Ryan Giggs and Wes Brown are local boys who came to our school of excellence and progressed the way hopefully some of these young kids are going to.

"What we're trying to do all over this academy is show the history of the club, all the corridors have photographs of great players we produced ourselves.

"It's an incentive to them that it can be done and that any young kid coming through the books at Manchester United will get an opportunity."

I saw this in a movie about a bus that had to speed around a city, keeping its speed over 50, and if its speed changed, it would explode! I think it was called, "The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down."
