True enough about the card being very handy. With Brexit, full passport is going to be needed anyway.

Would it? As we are still within the common area travel agreement, it should be the same as is now.

I think that the card is only valid for travelling to an EU country so Britain may be excluded.

No passport is needed for travel to the UK.

From Ireland.

But Ferry companies and Airlines may want to see proof of identity to prove thet you are a UK or Irish citizen, and therefore entitled to avail of the CTA rights.

Such as a passport.

Reading the info atm.
Am I right in thinking the following if you apply for the full passport and card online:
1. Only one unsigned and unstamped digital photo is needed.
2. You don't have to return your current passport if it has less than 12 months to run.

Yes. I applied for mine completely online in about ten minutes.

You can even just apply for the passport card using the phone app.
