Kearney
Earls
Ringrose
Aki
Stockdale
Sexton
Murray
Stander
Leavy
O'Mahony
Ryan
Henderson
Furlong
Best
Healy

Subs: McGrath, Cronin, Porter, Roux, Conan, Marmion, Carberry, Larmour

I know he's likely to go with McFadden as back 3 cover again but I think that's for their birds. The lad is way off it

I don't think Joe trusts the "kids" enough to have 2 on the bench in the backs.
Which means McFadden every day unless Conway gets fit in time.

If there's doubts over Sexton, Carberry starts which means Larmour probably gets a bench spot. The interesting point is Ringrose, only 1 game under his belt, 2 if he plays this weekend but I think they need coverage there which pushes McFadden more (Earls covering too).

We've lost more players this season than games Italy are likely to lose in the 6N!

Its a damning indictment of his term that we are still selecting carthorses like Mcfadden.

Schmidt only bloods new players when he is forced to.

Rob Kearney is our first choice 15 going into a world cup year. He will be 32 next year and most likely still starting for Ireland.
Devon Toner still a regular starter.
Rory Best will be 36 come the World Cup.
We have next to no cover at ten.
If Sexton picks up his usual knocks then we will be up shit creek at outhalf.

I said two years ago he needed to be looking at building a side for 2019.

He hasnt and six nations be damned, we will pay the price in Japan.

Got it in One!
After the Argentina defeat in 2015, the two Kearneys and some others were in need of replacing. We are now approaching W.C. year and how many new regular starters do we have? insufficient is the answer. Even if we win this year's slam, it won't make up for failing to get past the q.f. stage in Japan 2019 imo.

Schmidt does get away with a lot due to the D4 love in.
For sure, they lap up this “players know the systems” lark to excuse the repeated selections of Roux, McFadden and Kearney’s.
They also come out with “defensive concerns” to justify the likes of TOH and Gilroy for years.

Ryan is the only one to buck the trend and get fast tracked and kept in even Leavy had a hard time and had to wait for injuries even though he’s been Leinsters best player this season (arguably).

There’s depth in some positions but even a few injuries has shown that not to be as deep as thought.

You cant put a side together in 12 months.
Schmidt imo has not done his job in bringing the best squad together for 2019.

The Welsh, English and even the Scots have been putting a side together with a view to next year.

Ireland are continuing with guys well past the wrong side of thirty ahead of Japan.

A slam or a championship will count for nought if we implode again, which unfortunately I think we will.
