You should definately try Tool or even A Perfect Circle. Others of possible interest:
Deftones
System of a Down
Coheed and Cambria (similar to Led Zeppelin/Pink Floyd)

If you're into Swedish metal you should try In Flames. I heard a few of their songs that were good.

Heavier again would be:
Rammstein
Otep (screaming/angry/the world hates me kind of music)
and the very extreme of Otep would be Cradle of Filth but...

Final possibility would be Lacuna Coil similar enough to Evanescence but well better to be honest.

Type O Negative played Manc last night, that would have been interesting.
Can't take Cradle of Filth seriously at all. Lacuna Coil are OK I guess.

The rest I'll look into.

the skullet just makes him cooler

Well if you are going down the opeth, coheed type of stuff then i would recommend checking out porcupine tree. Steven wilson produced opeth's breakthrough album where they altered their style from the typical swedish black metal stuff to something more diverse and eclectic. Fear of a blank planet is one of my albums of the year so far.

Other bands that should be checked out are machine head, shadows fall, 3 inches of blood, sanctity, iced earth (who are supporting dio's heaven and hell) and celtic frost

Oh and cradle of filth are a joke...

That's pretty much what I meant about Cradle, they kind of remind me of the Darkness or Spinal Tap. They have a class cover of "Hallowed be Thy Name" though.
As for Lacuna Coil, wasn't sure what type of Swedish metal you were listening to, so included them in case you were listening to The Rasmus or something.
If you like your metal heavy you might want to try Wolfmother as well.
The Distillers are class too, but they are more punk/metal.
Enjoy!

I don't know much about them to be honest, only that they are supposed to be good. I was talking about Otep, totally different band and style. They are more a nu-metal, slash your wrists, everybody hates me, I hate everyone, why am I so alone, I want to be a rebel/goth, everything is gods fault, Satan is so cool, type of band .

I'm only getting a taste for metal now, mostly of the 'goth' variety.... will listen to anything once.

Wolfmother - loud but, musically, nothing new imho. I'd listen to them, but as for actually buying something?
