11 nights in Italy in August.

Fly into Pisa. 150 quid return with Ryanair. Sweet! Rendezvousing with an Italian ex of mine. We will hire car for a 5 night tour around Tuscany. She will be driving.

Then getting train down to Rome for 5 nights on my tod. A buddy who lives in Barcelona will meet me there. Staying near the Termini station.

Been to Rome before but felt my experience was rushed. Now I've time to really soak up the magic of the eternal city.

Can't wait.

Pick up a timeout guide for Rome, loads of amazing restaurant suggestions.

So a couple of days ago I decided to take some unplanned leave and go somewhere I would ordinarily never consider (as a 30-something singleton, particularly!)

A family resort.

I'm basically gatecrashing my sister's family holiday, and I can't flipping wait.
No culture, no effort.
Just hours and hours on waterslides and lazy rivers with her kids, reading books, bottles of wine and general laziness. One of the biggest outdoor water resorts in europe, apparently

This wasn't in my 2014 travel plans, but every now and again, it's exactly what you need.
