Default Lovers by Brian Friel - a magical night of theatre!

TUE 7 - SAT 25 JULY, 8pm (excl Sun 12 & 19)

Beautiful sets, the finest acting, original live music and the powerful words of Brian Friel promise a magical night of theatre.

“I think sometimes that happiness, real happiness, was never discovered until we discovered it. Isn’t that silly? And I want to share it with everyone – everywhere.”

Don’t miss The Everyman production of Lovers by Brian Friel this summer. Come along and enjoy what promises to be a night of magical theatre from one of our greatest living playwrights!

Set in 1967, Friel’s Lovers is a play of two parts – the winners, 17 year old Joe and Mag, and the losers, Andy and Hanna, whose love bloomed much later in life. Evocative of the era, in an Ireland whose identity was beginning to change, but still in the grip of the Catholic Church, Friel brings humour and humanity in to these lovers’ shadow of repression; a play full of heart and with much to say about the nature of being Irish, even 50 years on.

This production marks the directorial debut of our Artistic Director Julie Kelleher on the Everyman stage. Expect beautiful sets and the finest acting along with musical maestro John O’Brien who will perform live on stage playing music he has composed specifically for this show.
