I suppose the advantage of him taking the 21s, is that they worked with him first hand, and you'd imagine there's a respect for him now given the results and performances they had. Some mentioned a few senior players may not respect Kenny but at least the future of Irish football have had some positive results with him in charge so they should buy into his philosophy
Tbh the 'senior players' are in no position to be questioning Stephen Kenny such has been the standard of their performances for the last 12 months

7 goals scored in a group that included Gibraltar.

Pathetic.

The u21s are on a roll. Would it really be wise to break them up now? I'm not sure. Although, who knows what's going to happen to that fixture list now too.

I'd be confident enough that Tom Mohan would easily make the step up to that role and continue the progress being made. Might loose 5 or 6 to the senior squad but he's worked with everyone at the levels below the 21s so he knows better than anyone who's out here and who has the potential to make the step up.

That's what I'm getting at. I dunno if it's necessarily a good idea to break up that team.

I don't know how much respect I have for a lot of the senior players. The attitude that you need to have managed at premier league level to coach the Irish team is irrelevant now, if it ever held water. Herr Klopp has not been seeing too many of these cloggers on a weekly basis and there isn't one of them he's worried about.

Kenny has deservedly earned more credit with the Irish football public in the last two years than the senior squad and they'll soon find out where their bread is buttered if they start acting like Billy fucking Big Balls just because they're in England.

I guess the senior team has to be the priority?

Good chance a few of the U21 team will be playing for the senior team very soon. Kenny will want players who are comfortable taking the ball under pressure and keeping the ball & generally know his ways. A few of the U21’s thrown in might help speed up that process for the seniors especially in midfield.
