🤔
Could very well be that Arsenal won't have won a PL by then! 😏

What a revolting bunch

Arsenal stars reject 12.5% pay-cut deal

Arsenal players will only accept an offer to defer wages to ease the financial predicament facing the club during the coronavirus pandemic after rejecting a pay cut yesterday.

The first-team squad voted to reject a proposal that would result in them taking a 12.5 per cent reduction in their salaries over the next 12 months.

Players would have been reimbursed had they qualified for the Champions League, and the wage cut would have been reduced to 7.5 per cent had Arsenal reached the Europa League.

I've got a degree of empathy (not sympathy) for many squads who are being asked to take a pay cut, as opposed to deferment, simply to cushion the blow for shareholders.

If the likely reduced revenue doesn't place the future of the club, as a going concern, at risk then I can see why they favour a deferment - to alleviate any short-term cashflow issues. Pay-cuts are a lot more understandable if the future of the club (or the livelihood of non-playing staff) is genuinely at risk IMHO

In the scenario that the season is completed behind closed doors Arsenal will be more impacted than the other big 6 clubs - because matchday income is a bigger slice of their revenue pie.

This may explain why they led with a pay-cut proposal.

Matchday income as a % of total revenue

Arsenal - 25%
Man Utd - 19%
Spurs - 19% (prior to new stadium, likely far higher now)
Liverpool - 18%
Chelsea - 17%
Man City - 11%

from what i understand, it's the PFA that have strongly advised players to reject pay cuts and opt for deferrals instead

Players wages are already heavily linked to performances

Thomas Partey?

Wouldn't mind that tbh

Can't see any truth in it, club doesn't even know if they'll be in Europe next season...which will affect what they can/can't do in the market
