Default Moving to cork

I will be starting college in september and can't wait. I love the cork accent! Seriously it feels like a very slow xmas eve to me waiting for santa to come .

Anyway, i will be coming from galway and dont know where to look for a place to stay. Anywhere good around the lough? I would love to volunteer for the irish guide dogs, so how far is the model farm road from the city? Is it walkable?
