Loved him in Mailbag. Never knew about his singing career, shared a stage with Hendrix and all.

He used to broadcast a letter from a guy called, I think, Galvin from up around Barrack street almost every week.
Eccentric was a kind way of describing him.

I know a fella from the Shandon area called Garvin

I'm almost certain this guy's name was Dominick Galvin, from around the Barrack street/Bandon road area. Regular writer of off-the-wall stuff to the Echo as well.
