Default Michael Owen

Thoughts on him?

Liverpool fans despise him.
Newcastle fans despise him.
Real Madrid fans don't remember him.
United fans wont remember him.

I follow his tweets for a good laugh. Always trying to stay relevant. "Us", "we" etc, if it wasn't for his tweets people would completely forget hes a United player. Absoloute self obsessed sponge of a man. Love the way he still talks himself up for an England recall in the lead up to major tournaments. Hilarious.

His latest one:

michael owen ‏ @themichaelowen
This is going to be the longest week ever leading up to Mondays game with City

He must be on boot cleaning duty. Fucking medal thief.

Had a good career. However going to Utd was a wrong move for him. He was always going to be a bit part player.

Would have had more respect for him if he tested himself and went to a team where he would be playing week in week out.

A pity more than anything especially considering what he used to be at his peak 10 years ago and that he is only 30 and 5th or 6th choice striker at Man Utd, on par with the likes of Erik Nevland, Darron Gibson and Liam Miller in the Man Utd history books. Emilie Heskey will end his career on a better note

a bit bland couldn't follow him on twitter

good finisher and handy to have on the bench

that's it really he probably deserved his league title at United (and that amazing carling cup goal & win which no-one can remember from 3 years ago)

goals to minute ratio is still fairly amazing

since he plays about 4 games a season

Probably because he plays for their biggest rival Utd.

Also pulling him on saying 'us' and 'we' when he's actually employed by the club as a player and you refer to a team from another country that you support as 'we' is hilarious.

Not just a wrong move for him in terms of being a bit part player, he completely shat on the club that he won a Ballon D'or playing for by signing for their biggest rivals. Agree though, a midtable prem side would of been a much bigger challenge for him and would of been better for his career. He is one of those players who had bags of talent but who nobody will remember

I remember years ago, around 98/99 or so, Owen had scored two in the game if I remember correctly but the lad sitting next to me clearly had a problem with him. I asked him why he disliked Owen. Turns out he had gone to school with him and said he was one of the most irritating arrogant selfish people he had ever met. I thought "meh, footballers". Then he said, "watch it, he'll fuck this club over some day due to his own selfishness". I remember leaving that game thinking what a bitter prick I had been sitting next to. Weird thinking back to it now though, he was spot on.

Like surely even United fans are sick of him, he just completely sponges off the club and acts as if he is making some sort of contribution to their success. Him having a league winners medal from last season is a joke.
