The survivors entered the Guinness book of records for the longest survivors of a hunger strike. As I know you are interested in the GAA one of the survivors was Joe Kenny of Grenagh great grandfather of the Cork Hurler Tom Kenny. Indeed the courage and suffering of the ten was as Great as McSwineys but history has forgotten them.

Pointless deaths imo just like 1981 imo.

It's a shame that these guys efforts have been tarnished by modern day Sinn Fein/IRA criminals carrying out criminal acts and besmirching the memory's of these true Patriots

The guerrilla war had more to do with the British exit.
If public opinion ousted colonialists than we would have had a much more peaceful plant over the ages don't you think?

This should be compulsory viewing in schools when the treachery of the first republic is replaced by the Second Republic.

The French after all have had 5 in just over 200 years. These kind of images can inspire the change that is badly needed.

The public opinion war was the critical factor, the guerrilla war was important but there was no way that the IRA could defeat the British militarily, who were then a superpower in military terms--American public opinion and indeed British public opinion were the critical factors (Clement Atlee, lord Mayor of London and a future British Prime Minister marched in McSwineys funeral cortege in London)
