Guy trying to make an honest crust drives down to Ringaskiddy to provide a service to visitors to these shores costing him time, fuel, and wear and tear only to be turned away by someone with a clip-board saying "nah, you're not on the list". I can understand he'd be annoyed. But then if someone disputed it on the local radio and tried to make out he was a liar then I can understand he'd be more than just annoyed.

He picked up a fare outside the port gate.

We need tight port security to protect our homeland.

Whos to say that the "passenger" might put a holdall of ganja into the "unsuspecting" drivers boot.

You must have given him encouragement to go off on his rant. If you don't engage 95% of the time they twig you're not interested and the conversation just dries up. On the very rare occasion that it doesn't you only need to say it to your driver and he'll cop on. He is after all at your beck and call and hoping you might favour him with a gratuity at the end of the trip.

And?

What message do you think it gives when a liner comes in and passengers have to traipse with their goods and chattles out past some chainlink fence or whatever before they can get a taxi when other modes of transport were available ship-side to other passengers.

Professionalism at its lowest.
Surprised he didn't say something about Nigerians stealing jobs.

BTW, you can speak to Taxi drivers and say that you're tired after your flight and would he mind giving you some silence during the journey. He's there to serve you. You don't have to suffer. Just speak up for yourself.
ON a busy afternoon a taxi drive from cork airport to city centre could easily take half an hour,

Get a fcuken chauffeur so.

Taxi drivers are people trying to make a living too. You can't paint them all with the one brush.
