Bit of a broken pre-season so far. Not really seeing the likes of Kent or Wilson shine as much as we want them to or they need to if they want to be part of things next season. Origi is doing fine though. It seems like a missed chance to improve by not signing anyone when we are at such a high level. City and others are all strengthening but we seem to be resting on our laurels a bit. Dangerous game to play because I still feel we played above ourselves last season so it does worry me ahead of this season that we are sticking.
The lack of movement in the transfer market must mean there is fuck all money available.

The Yanks MO appears to be sell to buy. Can't see anything major happening at this stage.

Not at all. Klopp is a stubborn man when it comes to wanting certain players. He won’t sign for the sake of it and I think he feels very little areas need strengthening which is fair enough but we definitely need a left back and a versatile forward player of quality.

Still short across a couple of departments and that's what cost the league last year and why Pool won't have as good a season as last year points wise.

Well infairness, even City may not match our season points tally from last season. We definitely won’t get that again. City will have to drop off considerably if anyone is to have any hope of surpassing them.

I can't see them losing as many games again this year. City have enough money to throw at any problematic position that they have two teams worth of players ready to go.

Sakho suing WADA for false drug charges. Fair dinks I guess.
Lots on here were saying it was wrong to sell and he's a top defender. He found his level at Crystal Palace and dropped out of the French squad. Case closed!

Crystal Palace defender Mamadou Sakho is suing the World Anti-Doping Agency for £13m over claims that a drug-test error effectively ended his career with Liverpool.

Sakho was provisionally suspended from football for 30 days in April 2016 after testing positive for a fat-burning substance following a Europa League first-leg tie with Manchester United. That meant the Frenchman missed Liverpool’s Europa League final encounter with Sevilla in Basel and, he has also claimed in a High Court hearing, a place in France’s squad for Euro 2016.

Sakho was ultimately cleared by Uefa’s disciplinary body after it found that the substance in question – higenamine – was not on Wada’s prohibited list. The governing body then published a report that was hugely critical of Wada, suggesting there were doubts among experts about whether higenamine was among a group known as B2–agonists, all of which are banned by Wada, and pointed out that Wada’s laboratories do not routinely test for the substance.

Sakho never recovered his place in Liverpool’s starting line-up and was sold to Palace for £26m in September 2017 following a loan spell at Selhurst Park during the previous campaign. The 29-year-old has now decided to take legal action against Wada, with his lawyers arguing £13m represents the loss of earning and personal worth Sakho has suffered as a result of leaving Liverpool.

“Although [Crystal Palace] is a distinguished Premier League club, it does not have the worldwide reputation or brand recognition of Liverpool FC with the value which this brings to a player, and his associated image rights,” said Sakho’s barrister, Stuart Ritchie QC, in court. He added: “Only recently has he been re-selected to play for the French national team.”

Wada denies direct responsibility for Sakho’s transfer from Liverpool to Palace, arguing instead that it was instead caused by “disciplinary issues” and a “personality clash” with Jürgen Klopp.

At the end of the hearing, the judge ordered that the trial on liability – whether Wada was negligent – should take place before the issue of the amount of compensation is considered.

Sounds like he has a case, in terms of WADA negligence, but is over-egging the impact on his career somewhat.

The figure he's asking for is around a third of their annual budget - so if they lost this case it may well further weaken their ability to catch cheats.
