Love how Randy Lerner almost gives Paul Faulkner a hernia here as Deadly Doug looks on!

I'd be a bit relieved too if i'd fallen out with a manager who took a side from 16th to 11th to 6th to 6th and a small cup final, and then went back to 16th again straightaway when he was gone.

I'd be feeling a bit under the weather then too.

With a bit of luck, Houllier might keep Villa up.

A Hereford sporting legend is recovering in hospital after being dragged out to sea by huge waves while he played football on the beach with his daughter.
While the former right back has made progress, there are renewed fears for the family and friends as Queensland’s horrifying floods continue to dominate the headlines.
Chris, also a former Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers player, had been enjoying a game of football on the beach with his youngest daughter and her boyfriend. Minutes later they found Chris face down in the water. They dragged him onto the sand before a lifeguard assisted them.
Chris was put on Oxygen but went into cardiac arrest and stopped breathing. He was taken to resuscitation and intensive care once he eventually arrived at the hospital following traffic problems

Chrissseee Price he has no hair we dont care
I hope he'll make a full recovery. What a player! I remember him scoring a great goal against Arsenal in a game where Villa were under the cosh for most of the match and then Pricey danced delicately through the Gunners' defence before slotting the ball past the hapless Lukic.

Darren Bent to Villa. 18 mill apparently

Some chunk of change. It'll be worth it if he keeps them up.

Wowsers, didn't see that coming.

£18m looks a bit chunky alright but his fee to Sunderland was £16.5m at the top end (subject to certain criteria) although he's still only 26 years old and is a proven scorer in this league.

There seems to be a bit of a stylistic overlap between Bent and Agbonlahor/Delfounso though - perhaps they won't all stay.

He'll score a few goals but £18m is nuts. He misses too many chances for a top side to buy him. Harry Redknapp prob recognised this at spurs. Agbonlahor is off form but has been hampered by injury lately. Delfounso is very promising but needs time something which Villa dont really have in their current league position. All smacks of a panic purchase by GH. Still think a creative midfield player is what we are lacking...Makoun might be a good player but wont be what we need imo.
