Southsiders Before Progress think the proposed light rail system should stop at Kent Station.

Why does Ed Fitzgerald hate northside people?

Coveney – NTA Cork Transport Plan a Game Changer

“This is a really exciting plan for Cork, it’s part of the expansion of the city and the Project Ireland 2040 plan. This is about making cork a modern city with people getting out of their cars and instead walking, cycling or getting a much higher standard of public transport to work.”

The plan sees €3.5 billion euro earmarked for trains, trams, roads and an entirely new Bus Connects system for Cork.

“We’re also seeing planning for a light rail system. It’s extraordinary when you see the statistic that 60% of jobs in Cork city will be within the catchment area of a LUAS line through the city.”

The Tanaiste has been in consultation with the NTA for some months and is encouraging people in Cork to take a look at the plan and give the NTA their feedback over the coming weeks as part of the consultation.

“Your views really matter here so it’s important to make them known. The headline figure of €3.5 billion is high but the cost benefit analysis of these projects show they are essential considering Cork is going to be the fastest growing city in the country over the next 20-years.”

Now he thinks that in order to improve the transport system in the city centre we need to widen the roads from Wilton and Douglas.

Why does he hate the Northside?

The Cork Urban Networked Transit System (CUNTS) will fully integrate all the different transit options including bus, light rail, rail, water taxis, bike share scheme and go-car.

Joking aside....thats exactly what cork needs.

The bus service from the airport is particularily shameful and there has long been the rumour that the taxi drivers were making threats should a proper bus service be put in place on "their patch"

It's like what you'd see in some banana republic, the taxi mafia.
