im all for pushing the boundaries but in this age of slick media presentations everything has to be presented as new, ground breaking and unique. Yer man Elon musk seems to want to go in the right direction but (I'm sure he'll agree) he ain't no Messiah either, contrary to some of the fawning posts and reports on line.

I like him and the fact that as a private company he is making real progress.

I dont like his mars concept though.

I dont think that we are going to get there in a space ship without gravity although people live on the ISS for months on end

We need a craft with a centrifuge pretty much like the one in the film "the martian". Just my own opinion.

Call me old fashioned but the more components and moving parts on an appliance the more the risk of error and the need for redundancy.

While some form of artificial gravity should help the long term effect of zero g (bone density etc?) I don't think there would be a shortage of qualified personnel raising their hands to go, even if it meant literally breaking a leg when they land back here!

Dont get me wrong. Mars is the next great step.
I agree with not adding needless complexity. Even though mars gravity is much less that earths i still think that a mission stands a better chance with a crew in good physical condition.
