As someone said, the World Cup finals is the wrong place to iron out the wrinkles in the system. This should have been done some time ago.

But one improvement imho would be that only the captain may approach the ref and ask for a check of the VAR. Any other player approaching the ref about it should be subjected to a yellow card.

In cricket the number of appeals a team can make is limited so the captain usually asks the players involved (bowler/WK/Fielder) if they're sure as they don't want to waste their appeals on something spurious and not be able to appeal something more concrete later.

Perhaps a max of one appeal per half per team would be a way to go, with the ref himself and assistants able to order one if they wish.

Certainly teething problems but it gets more right than wrong and it will improve
That's very much open to interpretation.

Not really.

It's going to have teething problems.
People talking about ebb and flow are only talking bollocks tbh.

Rebelsrebel is dead set against VAR, tells you all you need to know.

lol

I think its a case of give it a chance. The likes of Ighalo missing the volley yesterday and then turning around to the ref to insist it should be a spotter is bullshit. Reviewing that was a nonsense, you didn't need to see it again to understand what happened. But on the other hand the likes of Neymar may well have been given that peno and VAR allowed the ref the see the con job, my only complaint there was that the ref didn't book him for simulation after review.

It is very disruptive though, having a team assess incidents on an ongoing basis and then feeding the info to the ref would be much better. That peno Ighalo wanted could have been adjudicated on before his shot even hit the corner flag!

I'm told thanks to VAR Korea were correctly awarded a goal against the world champions that otherwise wouldn't have stood and as a result the world champs are out.

Well done VAR!

Yes, the only time it should be used. Is it a goal/is it not a goal? Leave it at that.
