It isn’t bad for a low budget Rambo flick but they should say that instead of trying to pass it off as an educational film about the famine.

Dan at One 😉with the unionist community once again here. No surprise there.Trevelyan and co.were misguided to say the least but underlying their strategy was a racist mentality. Their essential philosophy was to depopulate the land and the potato failure provided them with the opportunity they needed. A lot of the British cabinet were big landlords who wanted to move into cattle farming. Some of the work relief schemes were so brutal that they contributed to the suffering rather than alleviating it.Trevelyan was a product of his time if you were being very generous but that was of little comfort to the starving millions.
"We look forward to the day when a celt will be as rare on the banks of the Shannon as a red man is on the banks of the Hudson ".....London Times editorial.

Lol, gway ya spoofer. The amount of uninformed bluster on here is hilarious.

There was a wholly inadequate response to the failure of the potato crop in successive years. It remains the worst European disaster in peacetime . To call it genocide is simply wrong. End of. Do some serious reading on the subject if you dont believe me. What is being offered here is a primary school outlook of Irish history.

To call someone a unionist for pointing out the facts of the situation speaks volumes about your mindset.

Hugo Weaving was on Dave Fanning there talking about the movie. He sounded bored off his head.

Did the Catholic church put their church building program on hold during the famine and divert funds to providing food?

No they just tried to guilt people from taking the soup

I wouldn't watch Rambo, Die Hard or any of that kinda thing on the telly, never mind going to a cinema for it. Perhaps that is why I was so disappointed, you can see what I was on about humour wise now I guess, the pig etc...

I was expecting a big production for some reason unknown to me now

They also took notes for when they would rise to power and become as bad, if not worse than the fucken English.

It's not genocide.
