I appreciate Dan probably can't tell the difference, but you're a bright lad and surely do.

What spending comparisons spanning a period of 12-to-28 years ago have to do with this debate (...are Liverpool overperforming under Klopp) I have no idea

...but it's interesting that you chose net spend figures to try to illustrate your point
The point is Liverpool have always been big spenders. Always. From Dagleish in 1977 for a then princely sum of 750,000, to VVD for 75 million in modern times.

I used net spend in the other thread, because IIRC, it was you and Xvis who had the original debate back in the day, on net spend. that is what he showed, when he broke it down that Liverpool had outspent United in a 16 year period.

Liverpool are a footballing powerhouse. They have advantages over the likes of most other clubs. Liverpool can draw 95,000 to a friendly in Australia, City can't fill their ground for a CL QF with Real Madrid. If the Arabs or the Russian pulled out of their respective clubs tomorrow, they'd all be fucked. Liverpool will continue to be a global giant no matter who owns them.

Ye have a fine team, built with resources the club earned in various ways. But it is not some minor miracle that Liverpool are achieving, against the odds.
