A €1bn light rail system between Ballincollig and Mahon Point via the city centre, as well as eight new railway stations and 100km of bus lanes, are contained in a radical new transport plan for Cork.

The draft Cork Metropolitan Area Transport Strategy 2040, which is due to be launched tomorrow, also proposes a range of enhanced public transport services over the next two decades.

Ed Fitzgerald hates the Northside.

I wonder what Mick Da Doob thinks about that?

Didnt Dave Mc Carthy from the Hillcrest estate suggest back in the 90s that an elevated cable car be run up cathedral road?

Why does Ed Fitzgerald hate the ordinary working people of Farranree, Gurran, Blackpool, The Glen, Mayfield and Knocknaheeny?

Why doesn’t he want the light rail to go through the tunnel at Kent?

What happened solidarity?

Or is he just another hypocritical aspiring parochial politician?

Ive travelled extensivrly for buisness and pleasure.

Several european cities have had the same tram networks running for over 100 years and extended them as the citis grew or repaired them after the yanks blew them to shit.

That was my point.
