Very ambitious new #Cork transport plan details to be launched tomorrow for public consultation #corkontherise @corkcitycouncil⁩ ⁦@Corkcoco⁩

A €1bn light rail system between Ballincollig and Mahon Point via the city centre, as well as eight new railway stations and 100km of bus lanes, are contained in a radical new transport plan for Cork.

The draft Cork Metropolitan Area Transport Strategy 2040, which is due to be launched tomorrow, also proposes a range of enhanced public transport services over the next two decades.

Washington Street looks almost deserted. Where are the cycle lanes going to fit or do they double up with the Luas Lane? (not a superman reference btw)

Estimated cost of proposed light rail in Cork - One billion euro. As part of a six week public consultation, five public information days will be held :

This government won't even spend a few million for a #CorkEventCentre. And they expect us to believe they will fund a light rail system worth 1 billion? Good one.
