Default NCT - woe is me

My NCT ran out end of May and I went to book it online. Low and behold the nearest appointment is end of September, and when I rang, they confirmed this! I know there is a backlog but I thought a few weeks at most. The girl said keep calling back to check for cancellations and that they may be opening new centres soon anyway. In the meantime, I guess I'll just have to carry the booking with me in the car and hope I don't have any accidents!
Thoughts anyone?

Well like, if the car is clean and driving well, you shouldn't have a problem with the law. Ive been asked at check points about my nct and I just showed them my booking slip, no problem.

I did my test last Friday night, only to fail for a bulb blown in my brake light!

F£$king money racket anyways, I know its neccessary to drive in a safe car, but €50 for a 15minute test is just ridiculous...

Total rip-off alright, and they still had the cheek to raise the price. Unlucky on the fail. Yeah, she is driving alright, I actually encountered a check-point yesterday and they just waved me on, so don't think they are checking. I'm booked in for September now anyway! You couldn't make it up!

I didn't even try that to be honest, just looked at Blarney and Little Island, my reasoning being why should I have to drive to a different county to do this farce of a test!

September for me, Blarney. I just have the confirmation of the appointment resting next to discs when car is parked, and I call once a week to see if any appointments. About all I can do really!

The gards will wave you on if you have a booking slip for def. Sure what are you supposed to do? It's a racket. Ialmost failed because my jacket was on the back seat and it 'obstructed a visual inspection'. Thankfully he 'let me off'. They're gas lads.

Go online either late in the night ie after 12 or early in the morn, ie before 8. The cancellations come into effect during that window and frees up some places. Call centre opens at 8 and they all get taken then.
