impressive starts for promoted teams are commonplace. watch them fall to the relegation zone after christmas.

There's no doubt that this decision was taken a while back as Lapsy said earlier.

Ashley was obviously just waiting for a bit of a retreat from the unrealistic position they were in a few weeks ago.

Losing away to West Brom with both first choice centre backs missing wasn't as bad a result as it might seem.
