Default Cork supporters at Semple

Why were we so unusually quiet yesterday against Waterford? Their fans were chanting Waterford! Waterford! regularly and Limerick's were fairly vocal too with a huge group under the scoreboard at the town end.

Against Tipp the chants of Rebels! Rebels! were regular and must have helped to lift the team but yesterday when the game was in the mix at various points the Cork crowd didnt give the players anything to lift them.

At one stage a few lads tried to get it going and we joined in but maybe the tension was too much for people...they didnt seem interested....and it fizzled out before it began.

Wondering what peoples thoughts are on this. Galways fans are very vocal so its a pity
we may not be able to give the lads a lift when they might need it.

I think part of the problem was that there wasn't a solid block of Cork supporters anywhere, not as far as I could see anyway. We were in the town end and Cork support was just scattered all over the place.

There was nothing to chant about. We were cleaned out in the first 25 minutes of the second half. The last 10 minutes when we played well ther was too much tension.

I thought there was a big Cork support there yesterday but was dispersed.

You'll find fans tend to cheer on a team during a comeback or when they are on a run of scores. They also chant when there are seminal moments like a penalty that gets saved, an injustice that is put right by a player excelling at a particular moment and so on.

I'll take the dispersed theory for now.

Maybe there needs to be a bit of an organised meeting point on Hill 16 for the next day for a core of say 30 or 40 Cork supporters.

Those lads were in fine spirits alright!

I was stuck beside the most obnoxious Kilkenny Supporter I have ever come across. Christ he was an arse of a human. Success really brings out the worst in some people.

I agree that the Cork crowd was a bit subdued, def more so than at the Tipp game. A mixture of tension and rain id say!

It was probably tension.

One thing that strikes me about this forum for all the people I hear talking about it, commenting in it expressing their passion for sport is that there's no effort, as far as I know, to organise anything like a meeting point on the terraces for matches to really get the crowd going. Internet heroes all round.

I know what you're saying Matlock. There are unfortunately a minority of obnoxious bastards from ALL counties, Cork included. During the Limerick and KK game yesterday there was an elderly man behind me from Cork and every time Limerick didn't win the ball (and we're talking about situations where they only had a 50/50 chance of getting it, breaking balls, KK puck outs etc) he was roaring "FUCKING STUPID HURLING! FUCKING STUPID! A STUPID BOY!".

There were Limerick lads around us and we made apologetic faces. Our cheering for Limerick made up for him I hope.

90% of them are obnoxious. Horrible breed of people.

Powder-pissers are the most horrible, six-toed, inbred fans in the GAA. Never met one of them I'd like to talk to again. Indeed, never met any person from Kilkenny , in or out of GAA, I'd have any particular interest in talking to again either. There is a personality-sucking vortex hanging over that place.
