Audiogypsies
imagine if cork was built on the Mississippi rather than the Lee,
As a rule, the band takes rock n’ roll and injects it with a dose of ironic wit. As a faux folk preacher-man, soaked in the edgy blasphemy of Howlin’ Wolf, the manic lawlessness of Zappa, and the surrealism of Tom Waits, comes Audio Gypsies, where the darker shades of humour see Django Reinhardt’s fussy nomad jazz collapse into a vaudeville reminiscent of P.T. Barnum’s totally un-P.C. America.
Mongoose
Acoustic/ rock with a bit of a trad flavour. Big songs and meaty arrangements contrasted with the stark, sparse beauty. Mongoose is a band that defies you to latch on to the little musical tricks they can play. Scales bounce off harmonies, altered chords catch your ear, and compound rhythms keep you on your toes. Not too many bands around at the moment rock it out in 5/4 time! The sheer range of timbres jostling for position threaten to fly apart at the seams.
Snowman
Hailing from Cork, Ireland, Snowman are a five piece with the need to rock. They formed in early 2005 with the hope of merging their vastly different musical backgrounds together to create a truly distinctive and eclectic sound. Their music is a fabulous mix of pop and rock which runs the full gamut of emotional intensity. Love and hate, humour and disgust, despair and ecstasy, melodic harmonies and joy. Although still in their musical infancy Snowman have played with such established acts as Kilter and Mic Flannery. Snowman are currently recording their debut album. For more information visit:
