I had the flu in 83 for the Tadgh Murphy game. First Cork game attended was 1977 so yeah, ten years waiting to see us win a Championship game of football. FML as the kids would say. I could never quite presuade the old man to take me to the semi-finals against Limerick, Clare, etc.

We did have the League win in 1980.

But that only made the 1980 Munster Final feel worse.
👍🏻
Chalk it down man!

Staring Zizou, teaching the Brazilians football

Arguably his best ever match for France

He was sublime in that match.

yup

The great thing about Zizou in 06 was that every KO game was potentially his last football game as he had already announced his retirement

Pure joy to 1st watch him send the Spanish packing after they took the piss out of France and called them 'oldies' (referring to Zizou, Thuram and Makele coming back from retirement), then that masterclass against Brazil, a sober but clinical display against Portugal and that mad moment against Italy in the final

This tournament (from the KO stage) was all about him, he ran the show

A fucking panenka against Gigi in a WC final, come on

Marco, I love ZZ as much as the next right thinking fella but I think the Brazil game aside you’re seriously over egging it.

Cannavaro was the player of 06. By far and away.

As lee said, lucky to beat Spain and the final was a drab affair.

They were in their hole amigo

Spain played well 2/3 of 1st half, that's about it, Vieira open them up and Ribery rounded Casillas to equalize and that was it

After that the Spaniards couldn't deal with France directness and speed (credit to Domenech for actually setting the team to suit Henry for this particular game) and France scored 2 more

I dipped my butter croissant in Aragones the racist's tears on that day

Lucky to beat Spain? that's rewriting history now, honestly...

I said Zizou came to life from the KO stage by the way, 2 very average/below par games to start and he missed the 3rd due to suspension

What i was getting at is that Zizou was absolutely instrumental in every KO game France played...and they didn't get to play any shite team...Spain, Brazil, Portugal and Italy, it hardly gets more difficult than that

He was great against Spain, legendary against Brazil, great against Portugal and somewhere between great and Legendary against Italy...until his hot blooded Marseille temper got the better of him
