Beatles thrilled to be on iTunes11/16/2010 - 3:38:47 PM
The Beatles are going to be available on iTunes for the first time, it was announced today.
The deal, which means the Beatles will be sold online for the first time, follows years of talks between record label EMI and Apple.
Paul McCartney said: “We’re really excited to bring the Beatles’ music to iTunes. It’s fantastic to see the songs we originally released on vinyl receive as much love in the digital world as they did the first time around.”
Ringo Starr said: “I am particularly glad to no longer be asked when the Beatles are coming to iTunes.
“At last, if you want it – you can get it now – The Beatles from Liverpool to now! Peace and Love, Ringo.”
Yoko Ono Lennon said in a statement: “In the joyful spirit of Give Peace A Chance, I think it is so appropriate that we are doing this on John’s 70th birthday year,”
Olivia Harrison, George’s widow, said: “The Beatles on iTunes-Bravo!”
If Ringo says "Peace & Love" once more I will throttle him.
Im a huge beatles fan - but this does nothing for me.. Ill stick to my vinyl for these legends. Better to touch and feel.. the white album wouldn't be the same without having the photos that come with it.
Why would you buy shit off itunes? If im buying something ill buy the cd. If im downloading something ill be getting it for free. I dont see the logic in downloading it for money when i can get it in a higher quality for free easily.
I love the beatles, but their stuff has always been readily available to buy in some format, so it's not like they were obscure prog rockers whose work was previously only available on 8-track.
If Paul & Ringo launched a torrent of their back catalogue, now that'd be news.
