Great line-up - but I'd be too wrecked from the heat to enjoy traipsing around watching bands.

The music doesn't start until the evening so the heat has died down by then. It finishes up at around 5am just as the sun is coming up again.

Just saw this on Jim Carrolls blog.

Another festival still in the TBC saloon is the Electric Picnic. While there have been assertions in the past that the event will go ahead, there have been further developments since that statement which cast a shadow over this. OTR understands from sources that there is currently some doubt over whether this year’s event will go ahead due to a dispute at board level between the various entities who control the festival. Of course, given the fact that so many acts who would have been expected to feature on the Picnic bill are now playing elsewhere in Ireland this summer, it may well be the case that there are simply no acts left with blank dates in the diary when the booker gets the green light to make some offers. The Picnic’s 10th outing is turning out to be one hell of a drama long before Stradbally Hall opens its gates.

Does the fact that National Ploughing Champioships are happening down the road a few weeks later go against it too?

Not looking good, allthough the Evening Herald had this to say on Wednesday last(last paragraph of article):

"Meanwhile, there's some good news for fans of another popular festival, Electric Picnic. An inside source has confirmed that the September event will definitely be back on the bill this year with some big-name acts lined up for the Stradbally event. "It's full steam ahead for the Picnic. Organisers are hoping for another great event this year," he said."

Well I read they were starting building the site there at the start of August so the local authority, cops etc might not want the headache of two festival so close together and the Ploughing is way bigger than EP.
