Whether performing his startlingly honest ballads solo or driving Spectorish rock with his band, Jack's plaintive baritone, ethereal falsetto and piano are core. His songs speak of the human conditional with poetic flair and inventive arrangements.

Striving for a more balanced and sustainable future Townlands Carnival have recruited Native Events to not only design a legacy programme for Leades Farm but also implement energy plans for on-site generators and production as well as oversee the conversion to LED lighting throughout the site to reduce the festival’s carbon footprint. Making environmental sustainability interactive Townlands Carnival have created The Village Green encompassing the Village Hall which will play host to comedians, musicians and spoken word on topics such as TTIP, Youth Mental Health, Sustainability and more.

The upcycled sets will create an urban scape in the rural environment of Leades Farm providing platforms for performers and an interactive pop-up environment where festivals goers are immersed in the carnival atmosphere as they venture from one micro venue to the next. Townlands Carnival is excited to work with International pyrotechnic engineer Greg Woods who will transport festival goers into another realm at night by transforming the festival site into a magical world of lights, pyrotechnic extravaganza and immersive digital video mapping.

Townlands Carnival strives to engage with the local community, artists and artisanal foodies. The festival has engaged resources locally and organically including employment and providing a platform for creative minded folk to showcase their innate talents and natural gifts. This will be found in food & beverage, art installations and craftwork throughout the festival site. Building on ideas of escapism and carnival ensuring festival attendees find escape from the mundane day-to-day nature of contemporary society. Art installations at Townlands Carnival will be over-seen by Over The Line Studio, based in Cork city, they are an independent non-profit organisation run by a collective of 14 artists. Their goal for Townlands Carnival will be to source and create artwork with a theme on ‘Reuse, Recycle, Recreate’.

The weather did prevent a lot of walk ins which was a shame as I thought it was pretty well catered for weather wise. It didn't stop anyone having a laugh which was the main thing. All the fingers crossed for a sunny weekend this year though!
