Default Stokes moves to Sunderland

DUBLINER Anthony Stokes will today put pen to paper on a shock three-and-a-half year, £2.5 million (€3.7 million) deal with Sunderland after Roy Keane’s persuasive powers snatched him away from Premiership strugglers Charlton.

“When I spoke to Roy at the weekend, I was really impressed with what he had to say to me about his plans for Sunderland and what role I would play,” the 18-year-old Irish B international revealed last night.
