It's win win for the Qatari's. Between Cork and Barcelona they will have two of the most recognisable and iconic sporting brands in the world of sports.
Mister Frank could use his contacts in south asia to get sponsorship, we could then break into the Asian market for selling Merchandise like the teams in the premiership!!!

I wouldnt be surprised if the county board sold the naming right to the new PUC(if its ever built)

You'd find it hard to see how many if any of those would benefit from the advertising though. Maybe pfizers : Viagra-Get it up and over the bar!!

The musgrave group is one you've left off there. Supervalu do the Sunday game and centra the hurling championship, so it's a market they're into.

Heard a rumour that Lamps' people are meeting Franks people in the Venue tonight with a view to having "SFI" on the jerseys next year. There might be nothing in it but watch the space.

This may be the nostalgia getting to me but i'd love to see Barrys Tea on the Cork jerseys again.

Good post here on this matter from Rebel Gaa.

No doubt the power base and its main man will have an in genius spin put on this to deflect from the fact that this disastrous news is a result of their incompetence, their unprofessionalism and their ineptness. I wonder what budgets will be cut, under age development no doubt (never a priority anyway, who needs to win minors and u21’s sure we are cork and the mushrooms will come overnight) When the present incumbent took office in the late 70’s cork had completed a 3 in a row in hurling and had won a a football in 73, had a brand new stadium and the only way was up. Now look where we are. 3 hurling titles and 1 football title in 22 years from 2 teams that had to go on strike in order to win them, no sponsor, a stadium that even in a third world country people would call a dump and nobody going to the games (just have a look at the numbers through the gates last weekend, a double header) and make no mistake about it we have a lot further to drop before these vampires are dragged into the light. And a light shining on the murky goings on of the last 35 years is something that they will rage against to their dying breath. Nero fiddles while Rome burns but then again maybe we are getting what we deserve.

A whole new meaning for the term 'up for the match'

I thought of musgraves alright, but as you said....they are involved nationally and are thriving through their sponsorship approach there. I thought of Bord Gais also seeing as there Irish headquarters are by Albert road but again, they sponsor a national competition so hard to see them sideing with one individual county.
I suppose Glaxo would be there or there abouts seeing as they make lucozade down in ringaskiddy. And someone else said Pepsi in Carrigaline. The list goes on....

whoever it is....we need to squeeze them for a 7 figure sum. It is a fucking disgrace that O2 got away with only parting with a 6 figure sum every year when the country was awash with money and the O2 name plastered all along the open stand of PuiC. Just read the article attached in the first post. Cork GAA is an attractive brand.
