Default Scotland - Is this the year?

With Hearts beating Rangers at the weekend and still mainatining a perfect record at the top of the Scottish Premier League, what do people reckon the chances are of the big 2 getting a real challenge for the first time since Aberdeen and Dundee United were decent at the start of the 80s are?

Hopefully they can do it. It'd be great for scottish football if they did.

Can they maintain it for the whole season though??

They have an owner who's putting money into the club and a good, experienced manager. However, I'd worry about the depth of their squad if they got injuries.

That said, Rangers are playing so badly that I could easily see them grabbing the second Champion's League place (assuming Scotland keep it).

Actually, wouldn't that be known already? I mean that the co-effecient total up to the end of last season would determine the number of places for next season?

Probably. I'm a bit vague on how it gets calculated.

All I know is, that's how it's done in Championship Manager 2003/4.

If no one had qualified for CL this season then the season after next season there would probably be no Champions league second spot for Scotland. Well when I say none I mean that it would still be there but that there would be an extra qualifying round. As it stands, those who finish second go to the second qualifying stage. Then it would be into the first qualifying stage.

Hertz to win? Dunno but I do think we'll do it and I would hope they finish second. The huns are going to get gubbed by Inter during the week and away to Porto too. For some reason they are completely Scheidt this season (which doesn't say much for us), standing 6 points behind us and 11 behind Hertz. If the mini huns can beat us at CP soon then I feel momentum will keep them going for another while and the league could indeed be theirs. Problem is, they have to face the us and R****** 8 times which might not be the easiest.

I think we'll do it with Hertz, R****** and Hibs filling the Euro spots.

Edit: Rumour has it that Deschamps is lined up to fill the void (???) left by McLeish when they bomb out of the CL.

If Rangers didn't qualify for the Champion's League this season, they would be financially f**ked. Unless they could find an investor, there would be a lot of players on the way out.

Yes and no.

Murray floated R****** last year and came up with £52 million. Funnily enough, 51 million of that was transferred from another of his businesses and the rest was purchased by supporters. Depending on how MIH(Murray International Holdings) is performing then the huns look like they are is an OK financial state - only ok. However, MIH are in a horrible state so yes, techinally they are in the shit but nothing will come of it because on paper they have their heads above water. The majority of this years CL cash has gone to ENIC who pulled out of their arrangement with Murray & R******
