Pina + Special Guests
Tickets: €10 [at door]
It's a long way from the classical music heartlands of Vienna to Ardgroom, County Cork, as Pina Kollars well knows. The Austrian singer/songwriter is reminded of the fact each time she stands at her kitchen window, her dark-eyed gaze taking in the rolling green hills of Ireland's South West coast and the wild, windswept seascape beyond. After four years as an ex-pat she has grown used to the incessant rain and inclement weather of the region; she says she finds lyrical inspiration in its remoteness. But then contentment has only ever been a song away for Pina, whose unique perspective and intimate, conversational style is all the more remarkable for her phenomenal voice. Feline and powerful, heartfelt and hypnotic, it is wielded like an instrument. As her debut album, Quick Look, testifies, it's a voice which inevitably stops listeners dead in their tracks.

Credited with introducing dub reggae music to the punk generation, bass supremo Jah Wobble co-founded Public Image Limited with John Lydon in 1978 and in the past 27 years his solo career has excelled in as wide a range of musical genres as just about anyone on earth. Jazz, folk, Asian, dub, disco… Those who have collaborated with him include Primal Sceam, Sinead O Connor, Pharoah Sanders, The Edge and Brian Eno amongst others. Trojan records last year released a triple CD anthology documenting his 25 year career.

The Selecter + Special Guests
Tickets: €12.50
The Selecter formed in Coventry in 1979 and spearheaded the "Two Tone" movement along with The Specials, Madness & The Beat. Fronted by singer Pauline Black, the band first hit the airwaves with the classic top10 hit 'On My Radio' in November 1979. This was followed in 1980 with the release of their album 'Too Much Pressure' on the 2-Tone label. During 1980, The Selecter enjoyed more hit singles with "Three Minute Hero", "Missing Words" and "The Whisper". During this period, the band appeared in the cult film 'Dance Craze', performing four songs, which also feature on the best selling album of the same title. The band returned to the studio to record their critically acclaimed second album "Celebrate the Bullet". The Selecter then split at the height of their popularity in 1981. The Selecter reformed in 1991 with original singer Pauline Black. Since then the Selecter regularly tour the USA, Canada, Japan & throughout Europe. The Selecter continue to be an influence on bands like 'No Doubt' who they toured with in the USA and dance acts like 'Basement Jaxx', who sampled 'On My Radio' for their top 5 album 'Remedy'. 1999 saw the 20th Anniversary of 'Two Tone Music' and The Selecter.
