The thing is the GAA want another 6acres on top of that for a "Centre of excellence" only to be used privately by the GAA for training (don't forget Páirc Uí Rinn, Blackrock GAA club and Mahon GAA club are just up the road). This will Destroy the Plan for a Public park.
I think I have a solution to this crisis.
Why not move the newly proposed GAA Centre of Excellence to the existing Centre of Excellence at the famous Mahon GAA club?

Mahon GAA have a plan of their own - they don't need this.

I for one would be amazed if there was ever a residential property built down the docklands.

Not apartment blocks anyway.

Build a new college, indoor sports facilities, a maritime museum, parks,a huge aquarium, offices and medical facilities and a 24 hour Spar.

Stuff the city, people and tourists need.

The City Council will be voting on the proposal to gift the GAA with public land next Monday evening.

We welcome all those who wish to demonstrate to the City Council that land which was bought for public use should be kept for public use and not handed over at a loss to the City's finances. (It is estimated that the loss on the sale of the land would be equivalent to 45,000 household charges - almost the entire City).

So come along and help Save Marina Park - Cork City Hall - assemble at 5.15 Monday 16th April.

it would be more in your line to protesr against the purchase of that sky garden lying idle next to funderland and not the gift of land to a sports body. the city council will do sweet shag all with that land anyway.
