What I like about bookshops is the randomness or pseudo-randomness. You look under K and there could be Kafka, Stephen King and Sophie Kinsella. It's hard to replicate that online.

I don't think I've paid for a book in twenty years, and I'm a voracious reader.

"B-b-but how does that work?" I hear you ask.

Hello! Hello! Welcome to the 21st century! Wakey-wakey!

...who gives a fuck if Waterstones close? those desperately looking for gifts or some Rawks star or some Sportsman's 'autobiography? Anyone who is an avid reader (like me) prefer second hand book shops et al...Skibbereen has one of the finest I have visited anywhere in the world 'The Time Traveler's..(think there is one in Cork too)...

There is little nothing you can't find online..probably at a better price delivered to your doorstep...Not online? visit local Library or Charity shop...fuck paying new prices for a book you might buy elsewhere in time for pennies.

I used to love that randomness in Connolly's book shop in Paul Street, it's closed down now.

Hopefully the staff will be looked after anyway, I suppose they will all be given good references. I actually only bought a jigsaw in there before Christmas, and the place was heaving. Sad how things can change so quickly.

Reminds me of other great landmark business that have suddenly closed in Cork. I'm thinking of the Donut stall outside the Gingerbread House, what a brilliant place. You never really appreciate these places til they close.

Never fear, I'm sure you'll see be able to pick up a jigsaw or two in there, I don't think it's closing down M8.

Alternatively, if you're ever in Skibbereen, there is a place there called, The Time Traveller's Bookshop, they do some top jigsaws in there.
