He did love a good hug.
Honest question, who has cosy'd up to more Dictators? Venezuela under him, or any US administration?

How many Dictators has he funded/armed?

How many Democratic Governments has he covertly overthrown?

'Dealing with dictators' as a moral issue is a bogus construct of which the biggest abusers are those who invented it.

Right. Cause The people of those countries are so well off, happy, wealthy, free and not at all under the thumb of their national security forces.

More hugz from Hugo

(That's Victor Lukashenko, Belarus's dictator)

There's a difference between RealPolitik and bear hugs.

Just because the US funds dictators (and it does), doesn't mean to say it's a good thing. It doesn't excuse Chavez glossing it over entirely, at least in the US, dictators are recognised as such.

I could go search for how much free oil Hugo has showered on dictators (and it's a lot), but I'm sure the argument that the US sells arms to Saudi Arabia, or that that Sandinistas were taken down by the CIA.

My point being, he cosied up, very closely, to a lot of very, very dodgy characters. I tend to judge people quite a bit on the company they keep. He got very friendly with many despicable dictators.

And that is not a bogus construct, it's a fact.

Why?

I'm just showing pics of Hugo hugging people.
And debating his legacy. Which I do not see as a good one.

On the death of Gaddafi:
"We shall remember Gaddafi our whole lives as a great fighter, a revolutionary and a martyr"

He also claimed he was assassinated by the "west".
