I have transferred 17 tapes so far, some of which I'll need to do again because I think the batteries affected some of the audio.

Here's Mark Kavanagh from '97, I think. I have February '97 in my head, just before he went on to do his 'Clubmix' show when Radio Ireland (Today FM) launched that March.

A few notes: When I was taping mixes off the radio at the time I would pause the recording when the ads came on or when Micky was blabbing so there might be sudden cuts into the next track. So it's not the DJ's fault! This also helped to fit as much of the 60 minute mix into 1 side of a C90 tape. If anyone is reading this months/years down the line and the links are broken let me know and I'll put up fresh ones.

Apologies for the bad file, do you know if Speedy Share allows anyone to download files without the need for people to have an account? I want the files to be public. I'll upload tomorrow.

Nice one man! Looking forward to the Mr. Spring one. I used to tape all the shows myself when I was a smallie, but I no longer have any of the tapes...

Please ignore the other links I posted.

Thanks to thehawkryan for suggesting Speedy Share, it does the job! Please let me know if they work. I tested out the first one and it seemed to download fine.

No worries Flynng, it's fun looking back on these times. I hope you recognise some of the sets. I've uploaded 5 so far and in the middle of uploading 10 at the moment.

Mr. Spring [1996?]
http://speedy.sh/zwUVp/TAPE01-Side-A-Mr.-Spring.mp3

This was one of the first mixes I recorded off 'The Dance Show'. This was late '96 I believe, I would have been 12. I remember being blown away by this, particularly the first track. If anyone can i.d. it please let me know, I haven't heard it anywhere outside of this mix. I love those strings at 4:10/7:17 (I'm a sucker for synthy string tracks) and the blend into Spring's 'Break It' at 8:42 still gives me goosebumps. I played this so much I'm surprised it wasn't chewed up in the machine. Has there ever been a thread about really specific favourite parts of mixes?

Mr. Spring [1997]
http://speedy.sh/u4gdZ/TAPE01-Side-B-Mr.-Spring.mp3

This was Spring's first headline set in the Ministry of Sound. There's a 4 minute interview at the start. You can easily edit it out with a program if you wish, I thought I'd leave it on as an option plus it's funny listening to Micky Mac. Interestingly, Hannigan mentions 'A Clockwork Orange' being played in the Ministry, this was before the ban was lifted in '99.

Mark Kavanagh [1997?]
http://speedy.sh/Q9jE5/TAPE05-Side-A-Mark-Kavanagh.mp3

I have February '97 in my head, just before he went on to do his 'Clubmix' show when Radio Ireland (Today FM) launched that March.

Mark Kavanagh [01/01/99 - 1AM]
http://speedy.sh/yAbMx/TAPE06-Side-B-Mark-Kavanagh.mp3

This was Kavanagh's tribute to Tony De Vit who died the previous July. I can't remember where they were broadcasting from that night. I also have one of the mixes Micky played the week De Vit died but then later found out it was actually this CD. There's a few torrents around for it. http://www.discogs.com/Various-The-R...release/107749 He also played 'Live In Tokyo' http://www.discogs.com/Tony-De-Vit-G...o/master/90488

DJ Razor [08/03/98]
http://speedy.sh/BKGHz/TAPE08-Side-B-DJ-Razor.mp3

Ray O'Donoghue's excellent drum & bass mix when he was co-running the (sadly) short lived Quadraphonic label. Plenty of classics in this including Calibre, Adam F, Roni Size a bit of Bass Oddyssey's 'Arctic Wind' towards the end.

A few notes: When I was taping mixes off the radio at the time I would sometimes pause the recording when the ads came on or when Micky was blabbing so there might be sudden cuts into the next track. So it's not the DJ's fault! This also helped to fit as much of the 60 minute mix into 1 side of a C90 tape. If anyone is reading this months/years down the line and the links are broken let me know and I'll put up fresh ones.

I'll keep a full list at the end of each post so ye don't have to go looking for all of them throughout the thread.

Awesome to the max!
I'm hoping you have a DJ Nutter mix too - I remember I got one on tape and it was totally savage.

Hey Jandek, unfortunately I don't have any DJ Nutter mixes. But you might remember some of these...

Howie B [01/05/98]
http://speedy.sh/q6bge/TAPE02-Side-A-Howie-B.mp3

Recorded at the Icon, Galway during the Bud Thud weekend. I love how raw this mix is. I don't want to start the 'ol debate between vinyl and digital but I do miss hearing a dirty mix that doesn't sound so polished and precise. Some might argue it's all over the place.

DJ Pressure [2000]
http://speedy.sh/FmGjX/TAPE04-Side-A-DJ-Pressure.mp3

This was recorded at Hyperstate. At least I think this is DJ Pressure. Towards the end a voiceover says Klubbheads but it could have been the next set on. To be honest I'm not sure why I kept this, I think I listened to it once at the time of recording but hopefully it'll be of some value to someone, perhaps Flynng?

Mr. Spring [1997?]
http://speedy.sh/pfRbc/TAPE05-Side-B-Mr.-Spring.mp3

Another Spring mix from the MOS, this is either the 2nd time he played there or it could be another hour from the mix I posted before. I think it might have been broadcasted in 1998.

Danny Rampling [1996]
http://speedy.sh/Z7SG8/TAPE08-Side-A-Danny-Rampling.mp3

This is actually the first disc of this CD, tracks 5-15...http://www.discogs.com/Danny-Ramplin...release/233997 Micky would play classic mixes at 10pm. This was broadcasted in 1998. I can't find this online so I said I'd put it up. Rampling had a show on BBC Radio 1 called 'Love Groove Dance Party'. Come to think of it, I just remembered I made a big aerial for my hi-fi at the time and was able pick up BBC Radio 1 and Radio Friendly and K2, was living 15 miles from the city. Not such a big deal now.

David Morales [1995/1998]
http://speedy.sh/yAJsx/TAPE06-Side-A-David-Morales.mp3

Just like the above mix, I can't find this online. This is the first disc on the 'Cream Anthems' CD...http://www.discogs.com/Various-Cream...release/154073 Originally broadcasted in '95, Micky featured it in the club classics hour in '98.

Billy Scurry [2000]
http://speedy.sh/5hCSq/TAPE03-Side-A-Billy-Scurry.mp3

Billy Nasty [2000]
http://speedy.sh/xWYCF/TAPE03-Side-B-Billy-Nasty.mp3

Recorded live at the 2fm Sessions Tour in the SFX, Dublin. John Power had taken over duties at this point. 2 quality techno sets from the Billy's. Need I say more?

Nice one. Looking forward to the Billy Nasty.

And lol @ the making up the big aerial to pick up all those stations - I did the exact same thing! I had coat hangers and wires of all sorts joined together and wrapped around my bed, over shelves... K2 - that was class. DJ Ringpiece was a legend.

Really enjoying listening to the mixes, thank you again Silentsinger. I've managed to locate some of my old tapes and purchase the necessary equipment to transfer them to mp3 form. I think one of the tapes has a Dj Nutter mix that was broadcast by Micky Mac Jandek. May take a few days or even a few weeks before I manage to master the art of downloading etc but I'll throw them up on this forum thread asap.
