I dunno he didn't come drink with us. Kerry did hang out for about an hour along with one of the lads from Mastodon ( Brad?) and Tom Araya came and got some pics and chatted for a bit. Jeff just seemed stressed. Lombardo arrived and left didn't hang out at all but I don't think he was talking to the rest at the time.

I wonder would the Slane crowd be decent enough for the undercard of metal tinged rock acts Metallica would bring. 80,000 is Download UK size, and I don't think there's that many people in Ireland that are going to rock out to say, Ghost, who I'd love to see.

Metal festivals are the best. Sound people, genuine mix of everyone from 7 to 70 and nobody going on about chakras or yokes. Just can't see it translating to Slane! Metallica are obviously huge and have not played Ireland in years so I wouldn't be worried about the size of the crowd, per say.

More like Meath-allica

Metallica's time is long gone, seen them on a good few occasions now and it got consistently worse. Wouldn't fancy Slane at the best of times, less so at €90 a ticket to spend the day in the company of all the young ones falling around in their H&M Metallica/Nirvana/GnR t-shirts.

personally cant see Metallica having the cross over appeal of recent headliners like Guns N Roses or Foo Fighters so shifting 80,000 tickets for this would be a hard sell no matter how strong the support acts

then again slane seems to attract the dreaded Irish event junkie so it wouldn't surporise me to see bus loads of people travelling to slane only knowing Nothing else matters & Enter Sandman

would prefer to see em in front of 40,000 in the aviva but will probably make the trek to slane

Ghost are playing?

A band I have only just gotten into in the last year, fucking best metal band ever

Metalica though are a band I would have absolutely no interest in.

Nothing confirmed yet, they're just one of the names circulating as rumored support.

They're gas craic, alright. I remember assuming they'd be another doomy gloomy, po faced Swedish metal act. Instead they turned out to be a weird mix of Abba and Kiss, and they're all the better for it.

Rats, Square Hammer, Cirice, From The Pinnacle To The Pit. All choons.

Ghost have been confirmed now, as well as Bokassa, with further support acts to be announced!
