As an HR Manager in US tech co's for many years I've coached people on CV and interview prep and been doing it off n on for ten odd years. Nearly everyone I've coached has got the job they wanted. Its not rocket science, but ya wanna know the rules of the game.
So, rule of thumb, 6P's, prior preparation prevents piss poor performance.
Practice, practice, practice.
Dunno where to go for em round here. Try golden pages. Or FAS may do em at little or no cost.
Thanks for the advice Blow-in. The thing that unnerves me about interviews is if there is only one position available and scores of people are being interviewed for it. I can never see myself succeeding in that scenario.
Nah mate, its more likely you've only a few people as competition. If you've been invited for interview it means you're being considered as much as anyone else. Believe me, HR has no time to waste these days, interviewing people who they might not hire.
