If you guys having sleep problems then try Valerian Tea. It's good to induce sleep and reduce anxiety. Also its natural so you shouldn't have that awful feeling of being drowsy like you get with tablets. Queen of sleep problems here but mine have managed to almost disappear (bar last night).

I've done meditation, on recommendation twice actually. I did it for a few years as a few studies showed it helped people with ADD (like me, although technically my diagnoses from 1988 is "hyperactive child syndrome"). I found that it just made me lose focus quicker even if i did manage to focus on something. I gave it up.

I took part in a RedFM Fit Factor thing over the last couple of months. One of the guys in the Key2NewYou gym explained how deep breaths and a clear mind helped one face physical challenges. This aspect of it worked a lot more.

Nothing anywhere near a 'deeper consciousness' though.
