Default How to setup a webradio station...

1st you`ll have to find out if your broadband service allows port forwarding

if your with eircon or the likes, your probably goosed.

ask them anyway, ask then that you want TCP / UDP access over certain ports ie. 8000 to 8001 ( they should really all be open 1 - 65000)

(i needed a router to set mine up - aint giving any help on
this one sorry!!!!)

if they are open - your in business.

disble all your firewalls for now.

download winamp 5 and:

http://www.shoutcast.com/downloads/s...2b-windows.exe

and

http://www.shoutcast.com/downloads/s...-5-windows.exe

install the buggers....

right, next open winamp.

press crtl & P to open preferences.

select the DSP plugin as in the screen shot.. it will look like below:

fill in all your info...

oh... make sure you have a playlist playing with your tunes...

now to start the server...

open the shoutcast server, you installed it earlier..

shoudl look like this:

once the server is opened it should start streaming automatically.

just make sure it looks like the screenshots above.

now,how to get peeps to tune in:

first you need to know your ip address

go here:

http://checkmyip.com/

this will give your current ip.

your stream will be your ip + :8000 on the end of it.

eg:

84.203.148.20:8000 which is mine...

you can enter this URL directly into something like
winamp / windows media player and itunes (open url)

if your clever, open the stream on another computer and
save the playlist.

this will give you a file that you can post on the internet so people
can link to it directly.

there you go..

let the assult on the interweb begin....

i recommend doing some research on the streaming settings for your own good.....

Can I just add one thing ...

Re-enable your firewall when you're done, otherwise your shoutcast days will be somewhat shortlived

another thing, since most everyone here has fuckall upload bandwidth, you'll probably want to use a relaying service like live365.com - this way you broadcast one signal from your machine, and then hundreds can connect via live365. hrmmm, i just checked, live365 has gone commerical.... i couldnt find any other relay sites.

with 12k/sec upload, you can only support about 2-3 people listening otherwise.
