I think a person can receive a lifetime ban. 96 weeks is the longest suspension.

Exactly as bad as it sounds. Being America, when the ambulance was called, a cop arrived as well. He said that if our player was to press charges it would be attempted murder - attacking a defenseless person with a weapon from behind.

Of course, our player (being out of it at the time and not really wanting to put anybody in prison) passed on that, but now, months later with medical bills beginning to pile up and your man only getting 52 weeks, he's beginning to wonder.

I contacted a friend in the other club yesterday and he said they had pushed for the maximum suspension - 52 weeks. Hence, my double-checking on here. Some in our club are wondering why lifetime wasn't mentioned.

The only lifetime ban I can remember was for assaulting a referee in a ladies football match up north about 6 or 7 years ago.
