Default Recommend an obscure album thread...

Hey,

I'm eager to hear something I haven't heard before (aren't we all). Anyone got any recommendations for some "off the beaten track" artist/album that'd be worth checking out? Something that can be downloaded from itunes or emusic would be a bonus.

Here's my own suggestions if anyone's interested in something different.

Jukeboxer: "In The Foodchain" (Electronica & Folky Aternativish stuff, very pleasant, if you're into Four Tet you'll like).

Besh O Drom: "Gyi" (Hungarian Gypsy Folk, good for ass-shaking)

Is there any way we could have some sort of a "What I'm currently listening to" thread on this forum? There used to be something like this over on the neurotics (Langers) forum.

Pheasant

Are you looking for obscure sounding or obscure as in you might not have heard of them?
Anyway check out
The Books - Lost and Safe.

Kinda folky Electronica as well, but nothing like Four Tet really.

'Lost and Safe' by the Books is deadly alright.

Luna's album 'Bewitched' is a great lost alternative pop album from 1994.

CocoRosie - Noah's Ark. Great album, just 2 sisters, kinda beatbox drums with lots of Harp and excellant vocals. Very cool

I got a present of a cd from the states recently by a band called Iron and Wine, kind of folk-rock, I really enjoyed it.

Dunno if you'll have much luck finding it, but theres an album by an american band called "toenut" called 'Two in the Piñata'. Dunno if you'll find it on soulseek, but you can buy it off amazon.com. Best tracks are "inverted flatspin", "giant Steps", "test anxiety", "the song we wrote yesterday" and "the weird world". Really good actually.
