nope.
....band had 3 dates available.

Obviously have to do Dublin & Belfast....and do 1 other date.
Band have to leave via Dublin so from a routing point of view it doesnt make sense to have a band drive from Belfast-Cork-Dublin, but more sense to do Belfast-Galway-Dublin as there is less travel involved.

THE WEDDING PRESENT
"EL REY" album & UK tour
CD & vinyl album . Label: Vibrant . Cat No: VIBECD 001 & VIBELP 001
Distribution: Pinnacle . Release Date: 26th May 2008

The new single 'The Thing I Like Best About Him Is His Girlfriend' is released on 5th May 2008 via digital download only!

"El Rey" - the first new long player in over three years from The Wedding Present - was recorded in Chicago by Steve Albini and will be the first release on the UK's newest record label: Vibrant.

It will be preceded by a digital download only single, "The Thing I Like Best About Him Is His Girlfriend," which will be released in four versions on 05/05/08.

The band returned from an eight year hiatus in 2004 with the release of "Take Fountain". This long awaited album brought them back into the spotlight with all the style and sophistication associated with a legendary group, but fans were also pleased to see the band had lost none of the growling angst with which they had burst onto the scene with their 1985 debut, "George Best".

That intensity has been turned up even further for the new album, "El Rey", The Wedding Present's first collaboration with the legendary Albini since the renowned "Seamonsters" in 1991.

Written while David Gedge was living in Los Angeles, "El Rey" burns with West Coast sunlight; Hollywood seen through the eyes of a gritty Northerner.

Speaking about "El Rey" in Mojo magazine recently Gedge said: "I've been living in West Hollywood for the last year or so, and while I'm not going to claim that this is my 'L.A.' album, there are some references. I suppose the themes are lust, jealousy, betrayal, regret, obsession, super-heros. the usual. We chose to record with Steve this time because the new songs were sounding very guitarry and quite dark. It's been good. As you'd imagine, really; Albini knows his stuff".

The band will be playing a short British tour immediately following the release of the album followed by European festivals throughout the summer.

Having called a temporary halt to The Wedding Present in 1997, founder member David Gedge, in tandem with partner Sally Murrell, began working together under the name Cinerama. The project evolved into a fully-fledged group, releasing a series of singles and albums in the intervening years. A seven-month break became seven years but in 2005 Gedge revived The Wedding Present name with the album "Take Fountain", almost 20 years after he formed the original Wedding Present. Reactions bore out his decision:

"Eternally unfashionable but respect is overdue" - Mojo ****
"The loneliest boy in town is back" - Uncut ****
"It'll steal your heart like it's supposed to" - Time Out

During Christmas 2006, long-time guitarist Simon Cleave left the group and was replaced by Christopher McConville, soon after which drummer Graeme Ramsay was also added. The Wedding Present is completed by bassist Terry de Castro, who has now played along side Gedge for ten years since she joined Cinerama. In this form they recorded the "El Rey" album earlier this year.
