RTE have signed a 3 year deal with the Gaa to show live league and club games starting this season.

From my reading of it TG4 aren't loosing out....

RTÉ will simulcast four of eir sport's Saturday Allianz League games under lights, with RTÉ bringing its own style and expertise to the coverage, along with the top class editorial, presentation and punditry teams that have made The Sunday Game the home of televised GAA every summer.

The weekly Allianz League Sunday highlights show also returns, with the first episode on 27 January.

RTÉ's live club championship matches will consist of two matches each weekend, from September through November. Running alongside TG4's existing coverage, RTÉ will select their own two matches separate from the Irish language broadcaster's choices.

they did the same to newstalk 24 months ago when they insisted on exclusive radio coverage rights.
poor decision from the gaa at the time cos rte didn't send reporters never mind commentators to a fraction of the league games and early championship games across all divisions that off the ball did.
off the ball put huge effort into covering the national league and championships. As have tg4 over the years.
I hope rte are up to the task.

Tg4 thankfully retain their rights, I think this will show up how bad rtes coverage actually is, full of cliche ridden munchies from the Midlands whose comprehension of gaa doesn't extend beyond intensity and possession, followed by that flute Cahill with his own unique brand of presentation, anyway the more on tv the better

Good to hear there will be more games shown, has to be a positive really

But as mentioned above I hope the Gaa won’t forget that TG4 kept the show going when RTÉ couldn’t be bothered

RTE only care about Gaa now because they have lost the soccer and rugby to Virgin and Ryle Nugent isn't around any more

You could be right, but the extra coverage is welcome nonetheless.

They only lost the 6N, they still have the Euro qualifiers, Champions League and Rugby World Cup.
