Default The England Syndrome

Sven seems to have lost the backing of the press in recent times. the reason Venables was so popular amongst them was because he played the team the press picked. Sven in his infinite wisdom has decided against that in their last two games so we can all expect him to be hung out to dry. You have to laugh at the English. They build their sporting heroes up (Henman, Beckham,
Sven etc) and then when they fail they hang them from the nearest lamp post.

Will Sven hae his job in 6 months time?

wouldn't be surprised if we met them in the play offs (assuming we get there ourselves)

still though, england losing nearly makes up for us losing to the frogs

IIRC don't the two runner up teams with the highest points totals qualify automatically.

If England win their last 2 they get 25 points, which would probably see them through. 23 might even do. Sweden/Croatia have 21/20 points in group 8. Some of the groups have 7 teams, some have 6, so I presume they discount the results against the weakest team or something? Otherwise the 7 team groups would have a huge advantage.

Well it must be remembered that to sack sven would cost the FA about 30 million english pounds thanks to his water tight contract he has

Eriksson is a shit manager, considering the pool of talent available to england, they are a disgrace. I could pick a better line up than him. When you can't beat Norn Iron who hadn't won a match in 4 years until their last game, you should hang up your boots.

Ah yes.

The 'golden generation'. How did that all finish up again?
